Slideshare – http://www.slideshare.net

Slideshare allows you to upload PowerPoint presentations and share them with others. To add one to your blog, all you have to do is copy the Embed in your blog code and paste it into your blog post. Before you paste the code into the post, switch to code view and make sure your cursor is where you want the slideshow to appear. Paste the code and save your post. IMPORTANT: If you go back into the post after you have saved it and make changes, you will lose the code for the Slideshare show and will have to paste the code in again.

If you want to add a photo that you have stored online (like on Picasa web or on a website), follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the image.
  2. Select copy
  3. Go back to the post you are creating in Edublogs, make sure your cursor is where you want to paste the image, and click Ctrl – V on your keyboard to paste the image. (Note: It may show up in a strange location. Don’t worry – it will show up in the correct spot once it is saved).
  4. You can resize the image by clicking and dragging.
  5. The image will be left-aligned and can not be centered.

You can also use the Add Media icon in Edublogs that above the toolbar of the write post box (looks like a picture frame - it’s the first choice next to Add Media). Browse for the file you want use and follow the prompts to add the picture.

Avatars

November 15, 2007

An avatar is a graphical representation of yourself. Many people use avatars to represent themselves online when using blogs, chat rooms, etc. There are several free online sites that allow you to create an avatar to use in blogs, etc. Following are some examples:

Meez – http://www.meez.com/

Lego Avatar – http://www.reasonablyclever.com/mini/

legome.gif

Wee World – http://www.weeworld.com/

To add your avatar to your blog:

1. Save the graphic file you create at the avatar site of your choice to your computer.

2. Go to Settings and Blog Avatar in Edublogs.

3. Upload the avatar file you created.

4. Go to Design and Widgets.

5. Add the Blog Avatar widget.

6. View your site. Your avatar should be displayed in your sidebar.

To add an ANIMATED Meez file safely to your blog (kind of an advanced skill & you must have a school website):

1. Save your animated version of your meez to your images file on your school webspace (on the W drive).

2. Add a text widget to your blog.

3. Put the image source code in the text widget (i.e. <img src = ‘http://wwww.thematzats.com/images/animatedmeez.gif’>)

4. The animated meez should now display in your sidebar.
